We are happy to announce that all our WFTF members have accepted the new Comprehensive WFTF Rules. The vast majority have also agreed to the minimum age of 60 for veterans (86%) and 150 mm (6”) thickness for shooting seats (79%). Thank you for your good response. A copy of the final WFTF Rules is attached.

As was stated in an earlier email, these Rules will only become effective after our 2012 Worlds event, and that we have to delete minor sections now included in the Rules from our WFTF Constitution before then.

Member countries that wish to apply these Rules to local events before August, are however free to do so.

We trust that we now have a sound basis upon which to establish standard Rules for field target shooting around the globe.

Dear All !

There appear to be a few grey area’s in the WFTF rules effective after Norway World Champs 2012. We are all aware that FT was originally intended as a sport which portrayed a hunting scenario in a competition environment and in my opinion at least, should continue to do so. With this in mind, please review and reply soonest to the following points.

Please also refer to the “Final version” of the new WFTF shoot rules (attached).

Rule 1.4 Are we agreed that a thigh rest is a Rifle Accessory and not part of a fully adjustable rifle stock, and is therefore not permitted according to the listed items ?

Rule 1.1 The flat hamster rule has caused some concern and confusion. Perhaps we were a bit quick in replying to this proposal. A high percentage og so called “hamsters” follow the contours of the rifle, and are by no means flat. To avoid argument, and conflict on the range, the proposal is that this requirement is removed from the rules. Bear in mind too, that additional gadgets screwed to the underside of some precision Spring Air rifles is a definite no-no, which is why some shooters prefer to attach a small soft pad to the underside of the stock for the duration of a competition.

Rule 1.5 Separate pads (if used*) must be worn over non-padded clothing. Again to avoid conflict, we need to specify a maximum allowed thickness for knee and elbow pads. In the NFTAC rules we state 30mm for both. Is this reasonable ?

By all means submit an alternative text. Obviously, a speedy response is required as Ebern will be upon us soon…life goes fast when you’re enjoying yourself !

Hello all,

in a quick poll the majority of the "hard core" of the German field target shooters voted as follows: 1. The thigh rest is an acessory and should be prohibited. 2. Point 1.1. (flat hamsters) should be removed. 3. The thickness of a knee pad must not be defined. Its main purpose is to protect the knee from the hard rifle stock. It does not really replace a hamster which is a much better way to adjust the rifle to the different anatomical specialities of a shhoter in the sitteng position. BDS follows this vote.

The constitution states ... Host RGB rules will apply at all Federation Championships, but may not contradict/override the WFTF Core Rules. … This is now incorrect, as we abide by WFTF comprehensive rules. If there are no objections, I will reword this paragraph of the constitution.
The Constitution of the Federation may only be changed at the end of each hosting period, and then only by a simple majority agreement of the member senior/sole RGB’s.

Therefore, as the rules are contained within the WFTF constitution, changes to these rules will only come into effect AFTER the completion of the 2013 World FT championships in Germany …

My interpretation of the hamster configuration in the attached pictures, is that the hamster is of a flat design with an angular profile, which provides lateral (side) support. It is therefore not allowed under the current WFTF rules. (see excerpt from WFF rules under…)
*The surface of the hamster (and knee pad) must be flat and not shaped to provide lateral support to the rifle. *This rule will be removed at end of championships 2013)
